Sometimes you just need to know when you're beat. Dynos simply can't be killed. They took out everything. Dosing Dino X took out the rest. I lost thousands in livestock!! This weekend I finally threw in the towel. Drained the display, threw out the sand. It now sits clean and empty. Next, the frag tank will get the same treatment. I'm going to then fill everything back up with tap water and a couple gallons of bleach and run it for a week with the rock. That should kill all life. I'll then let it dry out and start it back up.

Yes, tried everything. Peroxide just killed my inverts and didn't touch the Dinos. Actually both the peroxide and Dino X would kill down the Dinos even get rid of them for a while. As soon as I would stop, they would come back. This last round I dosed for 4 weeks AFTER I saw no signs of Dinos. They came back 2 days after I stopped dosing.
I'm done and I'm going to a completely sterile environment. Going to kill all life and start with dry rock, dry sand and QT everything that goes into the tank. This last year of fighting every pest known to the hobby has completely sucked out all enjoyment for me. Starting from scratch.

That's a bummer man I'm really sorry to hear that. If you need and start up frags let me know I'd be happy to help. I'm fighting cyano myself right now. Seems like I'm fighting it twice a year and I keep a pretty clean tank.

Did you ever find the source "cause" of the dinoflagellate outbreak? Seems like correcting the root problem combined with some of the well known methods of tackling Dino's could have taken care of them. Sorry to hear your having to go through all this. I can sympathize though.

No matter how clean an environment we all go through problems/pests at some point. I'm hoping to start a coral qt next year. Probably a series of 4 small tanks. I too want a sterile frag tank.
If you need some coral when everything is cycled I have some for you. No charge. I call it tank karma for me.
