I decided that I was just going to stop fighting and start over. drained the tank tonight... cleaned up as much of the shell base and the live rock as possible (without totally destroying anything that might be living in it.
Let the cycle begin!!!
Once I am cycled, I will be looking for fish, inverts and some flowy corals so I will likely be doing an order to live aquaria and asking people if they have any freebies.
In the meantime... it just me and 1 turbo snail. : )

Don't feel bad I have nothing but sand and a fake jellyfish in a planted tank I've had running for about a month that I just don't have time to finish

Been fighting to bring back a severely neglected tank. ..finally just decided enough was enough. Everything was dead except one little turbo small so I had nothing to lose.

I THINK that they cycling process is over... not positive but (knocking on wood) looking good. I have a couple damsels (I know, people hate them but I needed to see something moving AND I kinda like them, plus these guys have a really cute personality... at least with each other!) and some snails (including 2 monstrous turbo snails). I also have a naked feather duster hanging out on the bottom of the tank, moving around presumably either trying to die or find a spot he likes (hopefully the latter) I ordered a couple frags, we shall see how that goes. I lost the Kenya tree that I got from Industry (Josh) so this will be a whole new adventure but don't want to get in as deep as some of you guys, just want to see stuff grow and move! It is really sad when you have had such a tough experience that when you get in the morning after doing a water change, YOU ARE EXCITED THAT THE FISH ARE STILL ALIVE!!! : )

Baby steps... I wouldn't add more livestock until you KNOW your tank is cycled and everything is in check. Inverts are much more sensitive than fish. While your damsels may seem fine, it sounds like the feather duster isn't.

Most invertebrates besides maybe hermits and a few snails should wait a little while, even after your fully cycled. Most of them are really sensitive to any kind of change. If you want to jump into some corals get some mushrooms! They're just about bullet proof, especially hairy shrooms.
