So this weekend I'm going to attempt to move my 75 and stand together only removing the sump and about about a 1/4 of the water! The thing that I would like some appinions on is if I should start a new fuge or just clean the hole thing down and start fresh? Also if you think I'm better of transferring as much of the water removed back in -20 gl or so or just make sure I have a trash can full ready to go?

I personally wouldn't try to move the tank with water in it it puts a lot of stress on the tank and I have read a lot of bad story's of that going wrong

Unless you have a forklift available, you're probably gonna find it extremely hard to move the tank as is. Figure it out. Water alone is 8lbs per gallon

Is the tank on carpet? My buddy slid a 55 gallon and pulled the carpet right off the floor and then it bunched up in front of the tank and had to drain the tank anyway and fix the carpet.

I'm not to worried about moving the tank (my company moves houses I think I'll be alright) just thought I would get a little input on if I should try to salvage As much of the old water and fuge or all new.

Risky moving a tank that size with that much water in, but will leave that judgement up to you. How far are you attempting to move it? You will be ok without saving your old water, just make sure you have new water to replace-consider it a water change. Might as well try and save your fuge. What is currently growing in it?

Your best bet is to save as much of the old water and also have enough new salt water ready to go to make up a 10-20% water change afterwards. This will make up any difference in water lost from the move and will help remove some of the organics that get stirred up from the move as well. Like everyone says, rule of thumb, it's always best to completely drain the tank unless it's a small tank 30 gallons or less and can easily slide it without doing structural damage to the stand.

Well good luck to you whatever you decide to do. My personal experience is that moving a tank, whether with or without water, usually ends up bad in one way or another. Remember that you're working with a glass and glue box. Any extra weight or any moving projectiles(ie live rock) are just asking for trouble. When I moved back in October, we had a moving company help us. I took 50% of the water out and they still had me take out more because they couldn't budge it.

My personal opinion (and we all have our own), if you're just moving it to a new spot in the house, get one of those 55g garbage cans with casters on the bottom and put as much of the old water in there. Easy to move and then you just pump it back in. For an external move, get as many 5 gallon water jugs and/or buckets. Take it from someone who knows, the last thing you want is to get it all set back up to find that you've broken a seal (been there, done that, 65 gallons of saltwater going through hatdwood and basement ceiling) or even worse, cracked it somewhere and not realized it. The price of the garbage can would be a lot better than the price and aggravation/stress of having to get an emergency new tank!!!!

So I have 20gl and counting as my rubber made is filling up. I think I'm going to ditch the fuge and set that part up as a testing facility were I'm going to place a MH and some led's to see how The samme strand of pallys grow under different like but i will try and get some pics of the move so if it fails I can prove that moving house is easier than tanks
