So came home yesterday and my RW-15 has stopped working it's only 5 months old purchased it off Amazon and that seller is no longer offering them. Amazon is still refunding my purchase price no returning the old product no questions asked which is great.
My tank is 60"x18"x26" tall. I'm not planning on Much as far as SPS is concerned but mixed otherwise and I really only want to run one wavemaker.
looking for others experiences with Jebao wavemakers as far as longevity as I am thinking about the RW-20. I have a couple year old WP-25 that I just put in my tank temporarily and that still works great just not enough flow for this tank.
Next looking for opinions on the Maxspect Gyre150. I've read a few reviews on how fragile these can be..
Now for the third option going all in on a MP40 quiet drive. Anyone running these new models? Are these worth the money really?

the RW-20 is a great pump, i have one on my 4 ft 150 and only run it at about 40% power, if i go up to 75% i have waves going over the top of the tank. what it wrong with your rw-15? is the impeller frozen? i had a problem where mine stopped working, and i had to clean the male and female contacts on the round plug going to the pump. i have also heard of the power supply stop working.

I haven't troubleshot it yet. I took the head apart to check the impeller and housing cleaned it again as I did 2 weeks ago. The controller still lights up but I'll put a multimeter on the connector this weekend and figure it out. I'm not really ready for a big money upgrade at this point but if I do it I would rather do it once and not have to buy $100 jebaos every year or less. How long have you had your RW-20?

i have only had it for a couple of months, but i got it from ryan and i think he got it when they first came out. it should be able to run off the controller for the wp25 that could be a quick way to trouble shoot if it is the pump or controller

I've got 2 maxpect gyre's 150's in my tank controlled by 2 ice cap control modules attached to an Apex. I absolutely love this set up. I would never buy another pump. I have not dealt with any durability problems and they are dead silent, quieter than my rw15's were (and those were quiet).
The gyre moves a lot of water in a very wide area, much more so than a traditional pump. The flow is is gentle (more so than getting hit by direct flow from a traditional power head) on corals even when they are near the pump. Even without the icecap controllers the flow options are good, But with them there are few limitations.

I agree with syntax all the way! When I was running the gyre xf-150 my tank loved it! The Wav's came out and I convinced myself I needed the newer "better" pumps. Boy was I wrong, I'm waiting for the right opportunity to sell the Wav's and go back to the Gyre's. This time I may go with 2 xf-130's with the icecap modules. No matter what you do just make sure it's a good fit. Imo and what the Gyre's taught me is that flow can be just as important to growth and color as anything else you do.

Just an update foggman was correct it was a problem with the round plug. Not sure how anything inside that connector could get dirty but clearly it did. Thanks for the suggestion!
