so I have been running my auto top off by way of a float valve strait from my rodi unit for a bout 2 years now with no issues yes this is kinda scary thinking of a endless supply of fresh water hooked to my tank but it has worked for the most part but I also use this method for filling up my water change bucket but the other day the float went up but the valve didn't go off leading in the inevitable over flow so this has got me thinking of changing my top off set up a bit so this dose not happen in the tank were I'm using the same type of valve all that being said id like to keep the direct line to the sump so that I don't have to set up a storage tank but with a little more security I found one at BRS www.bulkreefsupply.com/ro-water-controller-tunze.htmlbut at that price I would think I could do something cheaper any thought?

Arduino controllers are not a viable option for everyone. You have to understand both programming and electronics...soldering, resistors, understanding of Amperage, voltage, wattage and their relationship, resistors, wiring, troubleshooting, vocabulary, use of a multimeter, breadboard, ext, ext, ext.
I dove into building one of these controllers with little knowledge of electronics. It took me countless hours of reading and troubleshooting to build a working light controller. To just throw out that an Arduino will do everything a Reef Angel will do at a fraction of the cost is very misleading. If you don't have any electronics equipment you will need everything! Things that seem simple like solder, wire, ext add up extremely fast. You will quickly see yourself spending a few hundred dollars.
With that said, a Reef Angel is an Arduino, so yes if you have electronics knowledge and equipment already this is a very good option. I simply wanted something to challenge myself and keep me busy with a project so it was a lot of fun. I can't tell you what I spent, probably well over $300.
