Was doing some routine glass scrubbing a little while ago. The "wave" action caused by my movements started one of the unattached superman mushrooms rolling around the tank. I stopped what I was doing and was moving into a position to grab it and it grazed by the red rock flower anemone I got from CR last weekend after the frag swap. The nem wouldn't let go of the shroom. I tried pulling it off by hand and prying it off with the long tweezers. Nothing worked(shroom was too slippery for me to get a good grip) and in it went. I thought mushrooms were pretty noxious so would've thought the nem would just let go of it, but apparently not

No worries about getting stung from rock flowers. He's very sticky but can't sting people.

No worries about getting stung from rock flowers. He's very sticky but can't sting people. Idk about rock Nems but I had my entire hand snatched up by a full grown Carpet Nem! Stung the crap out of me. My whole hand was covered in tiny little stings (looked like bleach spots) and although it didn't really hurt my finger tips did go numb. Lol that's my dumb moment story for the week.

The sticky sensation u feel from the nem is actually the stinging cells firing into ur skin and adhearing as to the question of u feeling the sting ur skin may be too thick dont try it with a cut or some people with softer skin may have a bad reaction

Allways best to wear gloves with nems may be fine doing it with out but one bad reaction some day ull wish u had. Ive only been stung twice and have 6 different types of anemones it was just slight irritation both times but then again im not allergic to bees either some may have a lot worse reaction

Yeah I wouldn't try working bare handed with a nem with a stronger sting, but rock nems can't get through our skin. It is a bit odd however that the green one never grabbed onto me before like the red one has.
