No. Left it the way you had it but changed the bulkhead to 1" slip fits that I had

OK so surgery got postponed. Insurance is declining. Gives me a little more time to finish the tank. Everything is up and running. Fish and corals have been moved and situated. Two issues. First the return pump. I have 3. I have 2 older Rio pumps that are strong enough to push, but create very little current. The other is a large mag drive that I got from Lance that is WAAAAAY too strong. Can't even keep enough water in the sump chamber. Soooo.... In looking for a new pump. Any suggestions. Secondly, I guess I kinda lied. The skimmer is not up and going. When I turned it on, it was like it was in hyperdrive sucking water out of the tank like a syphon. If I remember correctly when I first got it I had the same issue which ended up being the height. But this time it's within the manufacturers guidelines and its still happening. Haven't tried in a few days because I've been tied up with more pressing issues. Could it just be the newness of the tank? Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

Ok so #1 the pump- what's your overflow rated for? You just need to figure out what your overflow can handle and get a pump that matches it. #2 the skimmer- have you checked the air intake? Make sure it's not blocked. Possibly run some carbon if that doesn't work because normally there's something in the water that's making the skimmer overflow. Cemi-clean, 2 part epoxy and anyb kind of poly pad or new filter floss can cause this for a limited time.

The tank is drilled in the back with a 1" bulkhead. I'm guesstimating over 600 gph, but everything in that size seems to be too small by the looks of it. As to skimmer gonna try to figure that out shortly.

I have a Hydor L40 that pushes 740gph. With head pressure I bet it would work perfectly. I used it with a 1" drain and about 3'-4' of head. You could also order one from DFS for under $50

Wouldn't it figure. Just my luck. Figured out a way to make a top to attach my lights to and as I was doing so, the controller from my lights decided to take a dip in the sump. It didn't like it very much. Thank god the lights still work, but no longer programmable and all lights are at 100%

Could you post a picture of your overflow? It took me forever to get my dual standpipes to quiet down. Also, sometimes it takes a couple days for a skimmer to get working correctly, what model is it? Im not too far from you, wouldnt mind checking it out sometime.

Now I'm going through new tank syndrome. Ughhh. Putting some carbon/phosphate removing sheet material in one of the baffles to see if it will help with getting rid of rusty colorred diatoms on sand and in water column
