Photobucket is the BEST way to upload pics. Once you upload them to that site you can copy the IMG code and paste it in your message box. If you put it on your display pic you cant click on it to make it bigger. You're in a great spot being in portland because you're pretty much in the middle of all of the regulars on this site that sell/swap livestock and they've got some GREAT stuff! Either way welcome to the group! Everyone on here is SUPER nice and extremely helpful!

I wouldn't bother with a UV sterilizer. Keep a healthy low stress tank and you'll never need one.

It puts water through a tube with UV light to kill bad stuff in the water. The issue I see with one is you can't control what goes through it so it could kill beneficial stuff as well as bad so I've avoided them all 5 years in the hobby. I think a good R/O DI filter so you get good water to start is enough but that's my opinion. I'm curious to see who else has one and what they report, I'm just giving my opinion and there are a million right ways to set up a tank. Welcome to the forum.

Never had a QT setup and I probably never will. I never buy a fish if I can see anything wrong with it. Once in a blue moon I'll see a few dots of ick on my hippo tangs but it lasts all of a few hours to a day at most. I also keep 4 cleaner shrimp and a low stress healthy environment so yea. I don't think they are a necessity but that's just me. I've been over six years without a QT setup.

A uv sterilizer may be a good idea to turn on if you have a problem and don't have a hospital tank. But hook it up before the refugium so the pods can make it to the tank without getting fried
