I bought a Finnex 300w titanium heater and a Finnex digital temp controller. I have not hooked it up or installed it yet. Question is: How should I go about it, I don't want to cook any of my tank mates. Should I test it in a rubber made trash can first or ?? Thanks in advance... Ed

I would set it up in your sump, program it to a temp somewhere between 77-80, most people including myself prefer tank temps to be 78-79 degrees. Should be as simple as that unless your running it through a controller like an apex or something else.

The only thing I would add is that if you DON'T have a controller the sensor for the heater controller should go in the display tank as opposed to in the sump with where the heater should be.
