For anyone here that goes smelting this time of year, keep some of the eggs from the females Lots of them and they are much smaller than shrimp eggs.

Yes, have been to Worthings. Bakers is even closer to me. I don't eat fish so don't bother keeping them. I suppose they would be good ray food though.

I've fed mine smelt eggs in the past, everything seemed to eat them. I usually just freeze my smelts whole and use them for fishing bait in the summer.

How should I freeze these? Portions or on sheet and cut pieces off to feed?

I like to use them as an ingredient in my seafood mix but you could always freeze them separate in a small freezer bag and break apart to feed.
