I have always seem to have green coraline Algae in both my tanks. Ihave used "Purple UP" in both and in the second (new) tank I have used purple encrusted Macro algae and seed rocks and still end up with green coraline algae . does anyone know why this is ? I understand that both are acceptable ?

Although coraline comes in many colors (I've had purple, pink and orange) I haven't seen green and wonder if it's really coraline? I also have to say that I'd advise against using supplements that add multiple major elements in one shot like Purple up. Purple up adds Alk and Mag (maybe Cal too)if I remember correctly. Mag isn't used very fast so something like this could easily just continuously increase your Mag until it's to high. Any pics? Like to try and ID the algae.
