There is about 17" of depth inside the stand and a 40b is about 18". I would do something like what you have there but that would mean removing the center brace to make room for the 40B 36" of length. I don't think removing the brace is an option . It looks like either a 29 or a 40L. Anyone seen a used 40L for sale for cheap?

finally got around to finishing the floor reinforcement on the stand. Just some 3/4" strapping ripped down to serve as stringers. Glued in place with tightbond3 Once the glue is set I'll install a piece of PT plywood over the exist luan floor inside the stand to help stiffen everything up. Not the prettiest job I've ever done but it'll do the trick I think and once in place no one will ever see it again

1/2" PT plywood to reinforce the floor glued in. Just waiting for the glue to set. Last step in improving the stand will be to run a central "beam" on the "ceiling" of the inside of the stand. This isn't really structural but rather is to give me something to hang lights and mount outlets etc... on.

Are using the Black Diamond for substrate?

Are using the Black Diamond for substrate? That's the plan. I was originally going to use black/grey aragonite but for a tank this size that would cost a ton. Money I'd rather spend on an ATO or lights . I've seen it used with good results in a lot of planted tanks.

Made a little progress on the stand today. Placed the first piece of strapping under the top platform to give me something to hang a fuge light and do some cord management. Putting the second piece on tomorrow.
On another positive note I upgraded the firmware on my apex jr that controls my 29 mixed reef. The update will allow it to connect to 7 modules total instead of the previous 4. This will enable me to control this 125 via the same apex unit. Now I just need to save up for an eb8, pm1 and vdm and I'll be good to go.
Also got my return pump for the sump. Should have one of the heaters next week. Need to find a glass place to cut me a couple baffles and I'll be ready to try an build the sump.
Now I just have to break down a couple freshwater tanks and trade in a few fish.......

Just got an email from BML today. They are having a 10% off and free shipping Fri-Sun. So I'll be ordering the light for the 125. Leaning toward a fish focus blue standard model. I'll be mounting on the tank rim and controlling it via my apex(the one that's running my 29 mixed reef).
Also got an email from Premium aquatics that they will be having a 10% off all Neptune aquatics so I'll be placing an order with them(or Marine Depot if the match it).

So I bit the bullet and ordered all the apex modules for this tank from BRS. Even with 10% off and free shipping that's a chunk Also took advantage of BML's sale to order the light for this tank. Now I have to catch some fish to take up to Vance's in Bucksport for trade in. Time to make some room in the fish room

Picked up a used 40L to use for a sump instead of the 29. Things are starting to happen.

Finally finished breaking down the 55 gallon to make room for the 125. Just finished scrubbing the floor and walls. Now time to move the stand in place and check to see how much work leveling is going to be :/

Added Eb8, VDM, and PM1 and tied them into the Apex Jr that's running my two 29 gallon nano reef tanks.
Also painted the back of the tank flat black. Now I just have to find a way to muscle the tank onto the stand :/

Got the 125 in place(not something I'd recommend doing alone). Also placed the 40L inside(had to remove the door and the EB8 to get it through the opening but it's done. Now I just have to plumb the overflow and get the baffles for the sump cut.
