I am setting up a 55 gal with 2 10 gal sumps in series. I have a 590 gph pump with a 3 outlet return and a 1" drain. 2 24" LEd lights and a protein skimmer rated at 100 gal in the sump. currently waiting on macro algae to arrive in a day or two but will be setting the tank up on the 7th of july it has run a week in the garage testing for leaks I was told to add a second drain so I can run the pump on full flow. I will have 2 power heads in the main tank for circulation someday may have a wavemaker I have a 2-4" sand bed and 40-50 lbs of rock I will post pics when available

Really glad you put some pics up. Couple things I'd like to suggest is adding some more flow. This should help you clear up that cyano. Also that skimmer appears to be a hang on the back skimmer? Although it seems to be working if it's a hob (hang on back) skimmer then you may get even better results if it's run properly. More then likely the cyano is caused by Doc's (dissolved organic compounds) and the 2 things I said above should help to clear that up. Lastly I think your borderline on fish load. Especially for a new tank with what I would consider minimal filtration. Tangs are high bioload fish and being a 55g just that one big fish can continually cause you problems. I really hope you understand I'm not harping on you or anything and I'm only trying to help as I want to see you succeed. Patients is the key in reefing!

the skimmer is dual duty it is in the sump thoigh not hang on it is rated for 100 cal? the algae seems to be contained in the sump for now I have a sort of algae scrubber thing going too water flows over my screen and algae grows on it I should have a second drain to the sump so I can run the pump on full flow all the algae seems to be removed from the Main tank I will upgrad as money allows me but on limited income its slow going

Ideally you want to grow thick green turf algae on your scrubber. I may have an extra power head some where you can have. I'll have to dig around.

What happens if you lose the siphon from the bottom 2 tanks but not the display? From the pics it looks like you'd flood for sure. Floors look too nice to not care about a flood.

what I need is a float switch so my pump wont burn up. I have added a auto fill for when Im away for a few days.and if the pump dont fill the drain wont work , only the top 2-3 inches of the display back flows into the sump. I have tested this and the sump will handle the back flow easy enough
it may not be a perfect setup but it seems to be working my pump resivor is only about 1 gal capacity

If you've tested and there is enough room in the sump then you're all set. You may burn up your pump but that's alot cheaper to replace than a floor.

Soft corals continually produce a slime to separate from the glue. Your best bet is to find your self some sort of reef safe container and fill it with rubble and then all your loose polyps just get thrown in there until they've naturally attached. Doesn't take long. All that said and you might get lucky. I've used super glue with soft corals before and it worked. Except for leathers! They never glue well.

Use the super glue gel form and that works really well for me
