Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love reef tanks. There's just a big part of me that misses having the oddball freshwater fish like peters elephant nose fish, African butterfly fish and ghost knife fish. My wife is even wanting to setup a planted tank somewhere upstairs just so she can have her favorite fish "ghost knife" again. If I had unlimited funds and space I would love to have another SA red tailed catfish or clown knife fish as a show piece freshwater fish.

I think about setting up fresh water tanks often. I left fresh water cichlids (breeding) to get into saltwater more. But i feel like I skipped a step because I never really mastered planted tanks and always wanted killifish... Tell you the truth I was only "thinking" it before but now that you say it I think I'm gonna do it! Ty lol I do have a 3g glo fish tank! Does that count?

I started with freshwater a long time ago. Then got into salt/reef for a while, and then switched back to freshwater. The biggest thing for me and saltwater tanks was finding time to keep up with maintenance. As it is now, I barely have time to keep the freshwater tanks I have. Someday I may set up another salt tank.

I wanted a salt tank since I was 10. I got a fresh tank for my 10th birthday and spent countless hours in front of it. 13 years later I saw a segment for Nanos on good morning America and just wanted 2 clown fish and a nem. I really don't miss fresh water as I knew it as a kid, but having a maintenance business has allowed me to work on and play with a planted 120 which I'm finding I enjoy more each visit. I'll never leave salt but a small planted tank might make its way into our house in the not so distant future

I never had a freshy. Before saltwater i was going to setup a freshwater but then saw the beauty in salt. If I setup a fw tank back then I would have tons of money, well at least one of the vehicles would be paid off!

I never had much luck with fresh. I think it was because I thought (when I was young and stupid) that freshies were pretty much disposable because of the price. I had a tendency to take better care of my $25 clowns better than my $1.99 neons.

I don't miss it, I've got two of them. Believe it or not, in many ways reefing is easier than keeping planted tanks.
