Broke down and went to get a new skimmer today. Got a Reef Octopus 110 INT. Its set up but can't figure out how to adjust the flow. No matter how I adjust the valve it still fills the cup really quickly. Any ideas. Have it running right now with the drain plug off. Maybe it needs a break in period?

how deep is the water where you have the skimmer? +1 water depth is most likely your issue. Look up the recommended water depth. Normally between 7-9" for a skimmer that size. Sent from my SM-N910R4 using proboards

It comes to the top of the cylinder, just below where cup connects. I'll have to get the manual out to look at it.

A vinegar soak prior to setting up any skimmer will resolve the issue of the so called skimmer break in period. There really is no "break in period" for any skimmer per say. All that happens during said break in period is breakdown of any residual manufacturing oils on the acrylic. Those oils are what make the skimmer excessively overflow for the first few days or more. More than likely it's a water depth issue though.

Manual says 5.5-5.75 in. I'll have to figure out a way to raise it up when I get home from work
