Both kill bacteria from my understanding so unless their principle uses have changed I don't see the benefit in either ozone or uv sterilizes except for use in quarantine tanks. Now algae turf scrubbers are neat but is there more benefit from them than a standard refugium? I doubt it really.

Ozone Uses oxagen to remove Dissolved organic compounds and other things that cloud and dirty your water. It's a lot like carbon but you don't have to change it every 2 weeks! Lol Ats are a lot like a fuge but requires a lot less maintenance and I really like that about it. Light it and scrape it! That's it....... UV kills bacteria and free floating algae, parasites. I'm not so sure about there benifical aspects to a reef tank either and that's why I asked. Sent from my SM-N910R4 using proboards

I have seen ozone hooked to skimmers but thats about it...
as for uv... if you run a turf scrubber it is a must! and have it return the water from the scrubber to the system.... I have seen a few turf scrubbers... the problem is unless it is sealed with the uv returning the water to the sump you will be putting algae threw out the DT... there are a couple people i have bought frags from who use these without the uv, they use lots of tangs and grazers to clean the algae from the display, but when I get a frag and within a day or two it is covered in nuisance algae.... you stop buying frags from those people...

I might have to try one of them. I would worry about so much red. I tried a t5 bloom build from the local hydro store once over the sump with little success of good macro growth but you never know

Mine is pretty much the same thing but it has 3 red and 2 blue with 15W output. I have my doubts they're really 15 watts though. I've read so many people complain about led bulbs being less watts then advertised from eBay. I want to get one bulb not multiples, so I'll probably get a "54w" and hope it's at least close to advertised watts. Sent from my SM-N910R4 using proboards
