I'll def be going to the store. I know you say you fed really small peices but how big was your anemone? Mine is probably about 8 or more inches when streached out. He's beautiful and even is tinted yellow but I think he needs better lighting along with food. I'm working on the lighting issue but it's SO expensive! I was told the LED I got would do corals. Yeah, not so much, so i now am looking to get something different. sigh*

Yeah, mine was like an inch and a half maybe... It was so tiny... you could probably get away with much larger pieces! Yeah, you have to research a lot in this hobby... or else you will get stuck with crappy equipment

Hah! I hear that! If there is one thing i've learned it's that you need to research EVERYTHING before putting it into your set up. That goes for equipment and livestock! lol I'm glad i joined this site. All of you are so helpful and nice, I totally appreciate it!

Do you mean moon lights? I've been running just metal halide for a few years now without any added lights. You could always add some LED strips on a different timer to add a dusk to dawn effect.

Your welcome, anything to be of help. There's a lot of cheap options for supplemental LED lighting as well. Ask around, someone may even have some used ones to sell.

That is a definite topic for debate. Depending on the light fixture, I try to keep my bulbs about 10-16 inches above the water. You can go lower or higher though. Some manufacturers actually have a suggested distance from the water surface to keep the bulbs.

The MH get pretty hot though right? Do you think 8 inches or so would be good?

Don't quote me on it but I think 250 watt halides can get close to or more than 3000 degrees fahrenheit. I could be wrong on that temp though. With that said, I've been keeping my bulbs, not the fixture, about 8-10 inches away from the surface of the water.

Ok, so the hubby helped me with my light when he came home. I had stopped on the way home from portland at the hardware store and got some black spray paint, some chains and turkey baster (yeah, turkey baster at a hardware store) so we had the things we needed to hang and paint the light (the baster was a bonus) so FINALLY this is what my tank looks like, I LOVE it!!!! (i do however need to get some t5's. I bought one and it ended up being a 46 inch instead of 48...bloody hell! LOL Oh well, those can wait a week or so! Let me know what you think PS:thanks christian! LOL
