Just curious if you guys know of a good place to order them? Amphipods aren't too bad to get, buy live mysis cultures seem rare and pricey.

Easy Aquarium just set up a live Mysis tank. That's good to know. I have a Doctors appointment in Arundel in about a month which isn't too far from there. Seems like a detour is in order.

It's a great store anyways... they have tons of reefing stuff and beautiful freshwater set ups as well. Always worth the trip. Sent from my SM-N910R4 using proboards

They set up a brine shrimp tank. $5 a scoop full. By a scoop full i mean I got a ton. It's a good snack. I drained then put new tank water in a container with some selcon, reef roids, garlic. Then waited 5 min and fed my tanks.

Rats I was hoping to get some live mysis to seed and hopefully get a breeding population(although I'm not sure if that can be done effectively in our tanks) but live brine is good for feeding.

Sent from my SM-N910R4 using proboards You know I just always assumed they were marine since I'd never run across them in decades of freshwater fish and invert keeping. I just looked it up and they are more of a brackish thing and so could be found in nearly fresh or full salt environments. But this article indicates culturing them at 1.022 www.advancedaquarist.com/2003/9/breeder

mysis is fw mysid is sw
the problem is they are very cannibalistic so a tank full is hard to keep....
be careful ordering Amphipods you can get a good deal but I have pics of about 20 parasitic isopods out of a couple bags I ordered last year....

What are the isopods parasitic on? Fish? If so I wonder how long their life cycle is. In other words if you inoculated a tank with pods contaminated with them would they die out in a month if no fish were in the system?
