Frightening! It's a shame they thought tires would make good reefs.

I know, I read an article about it. Those tires were purposely dumped out there to try and work as artificial reefs but failed miserably.

The trash ones are terrible! But for some reason the pictures of the oil really get to me. I just don't understand how billion dollar company's can't be more careful and why the "mistakes " continue to happen? Sent from my SM-N910R4 using proboards

There's even more photos on the original post on reef central. Pretty disgusting.

When things are found like the 50g Shell oil drum! It should be a 5 million dollar fine per barrel . The fact that they lost that and didn't recover it asap shows the blatant disrespect and lack of care for the environment.

the bikes were put there for an artificial reef. seems to be working! I dont see any difference from having a statue made from someones cremated ashes.....
the tires were dumped there to build a reef . like ryan said it failed miserably. and now they are cleaning them all up. there are a few articles on it, nice to see they are fixing it!
it is sad to say but with our dependance on oil, spills have become a way of life and one reason companies want to build pipelines.(sounds good but in reality it is cheaper to move oil threw a pipe than using super tankers) having said that, companies should be held totally responsible for any damage to the environment! from oil spills to chemical dumping down to damage to reefs from their anchor and props
