For those that don't already know, Greg at cultivated reef can usually get you deals on dry goods and equipment, just tell him what your looking for. He can get just about anything from marine depot, reef geeks, and bulk reef supplies. I've ordered all my ATI t5 bulbs from him.

He usually gives me a few bucks off each bulb from reef geeks, just pay the shipping that reef geeks usually charges. Still cheaper than getting them from jays down in Salem, which is the closest place I know that has ATI bulbs.

good to know, thanks. i just switched to ATI bulbs after a couple of my old bulbs ("wave point" i think?) burnt out...i'm gonna swap out the rest soon which are surely on the way out.
i've had my T5 fixture for less than a year and am quickly realizing how expensive it is to keep up with these bulbs (my system utilizes TEN, ugh!). i sense an LED upgrade in the future.

I know what you mean, I wish the par bulbs were as good back when I started. I have par bulbs on my other two reefs.

how long do you usually give your T5's before replacement? seems like people go anywhere from 6 months to 18 months with a possible variable being the ventilation.

I used to change my t5 every 5-7 months but I would buy the cheap bulbs from ebay. for the price difference with the ebay bulbs I could replace them 3 times a year for the same price as the expensive bulbs

Cultivated Reef's sale section is looking pretty good right now with up to 50% on Limeberry zoas, rainbow acans, and hippie magic.

Greg is the owner of Cultivated Reef.com, an online store and aquaculture facility in Orono Maine. He's open to the public by appointment only but its most definitely worth a phone call to be able to go and see the incredible, rare and competitively priced livestock that he grows and sells. Its easily the nicest place to buy from if your looking for something other than the common stuff. He is a super nice guy free of overbearing opinions and really great to deal with too. I'm glad I became one of his customers. cultivatedreef.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=16&products_id=511
