Krylon Fusion
Let it dry for a few days, and you'll be fine.

Just wait for the coraline to cover it. You can also buy black egg crate via BRS, its more expensive than whit but after you consider the time and extra cost of painting it may be worth it.

I know I sound stupid because it's so widely used but I had some trouble with some white egg crate and later found out they have different types. One that is cheaper and low quality so it could leak chemicals (or a carbon source?) much easier witch was causing me to get this good awful brown slime algae. I know most think this is a myth but I dont. I also know I'm off topic but quickly here's what I found. Most people think this is a myth because about 95% of white eggcrate is made of acylic and obviously acylic is safe. But 5% of eggcrate is made of White Polystyrene and though I'm no chemist I don't think this type is safe based on this definition from Wikipedia en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/PolystyreneI could be wrong and look like an idiot I'm not sure? lol All I know is I make sure I know what kind of eggcrate I buy now and it has to be acylic. The bad kind I got was from home Depot about 2 years ago. Sent from my SM-N910R4 using proboards

I might have a little piece of black for you.
The white tends to leach phosphate. If using white I'd let it sit in rodi water for a month and do water changes. I've heard phosphates will leach out from 1-6 months before stabilizing enough.

Easy Aquarium sells black. Painting white seems like a lot of hassle just for some egg crate.
