It is probably possible, I tried to find the data sheet on both the light and the timer, the light looks like the same style as mine, mine uses a 0-10v analog signal for dimming. I think the timer uses a 10v PWM signal for dimming. If you can build a circuit to change the 10v PWM to a 0-10v analog then yes, but you would need to modify the light a little.

Foggman, did you ever get that to work with the Arduino?

Yes I did I built an opamp circuit to convert the 5vPWM on the arduino to 0-10v analog. I could probably do the same for the 10vpwm I just need to figure out the components.

They have a timer/programable component for these lights specifically. I did some research on it awhile ago and asked a ton of questions about it but thought it not worth the trouble. I think it was called a tornado? Someone will remember I'm sure.....

so I had some time to do a little more research on the ramp timer, it will not work with the lights you posted, the light you posted has a built in driver. the current LED lights use the wall pug as their driver and the ramp timer goes in between the power supply and and the LEDs to interrupt the power going to the light. this happens faster than our eye can see, so to us it looks dimmer, but in realty is going on and off real fast. So for a quick answer to your question, no it will not work on any other lights other than ones like the current ones. There are still options out there for the light you posted. As I posted earlier I am currently contolling my LED that are simular to the ones you posted with sunrise sunset. it is a fairly easy build if you know how to or want to learn how to solder. I am currently in the processes of a complete redesign on my DIY lighting controller do be a full reef controller with web interface. but if you are interested in the LED part I would be more than happy to help you out.

I am very interested. I have minimal experience soldering, but if it's not too complecated, I'm willing to give it a try.

Don't know if you have the lights already or what you are keeping for corals in your system, but as far as I'm concerned, for the price the current orbit led system is well worth the money. I have a 40b system witth all types of corals. My softies and lps love these lights and my sps don't seem to mind them, just not growing as quickly as they would with some of the higher output lights. I'm slowly setting up a 75g system right now and seriously considering getting the 48" lights for it. Just a little suggestion.

I will admit that those are pretty nice lights though

My frogspawn has just about doubled in the past 4 months since I got them. I especially like the thunderstorm setting when introducing something new to the tank. Kinda freaks the fish out, but that's why I do it. Keeps them from harrassing new intro!

They're good for low light corals, but that's about it. I wouldn't trust any high end/high light sps under those lights.

They seem to be a nice light with a lot of control, but I'm concerned that they are not bright enough for my 24" deep tank.
I don't mind being limited to certain corals, for the most part.
Maybe I should give the Orbit a try, and if it isn't bright enough I can always sell it.
