So i was given a T5HO unit... something like this.. I was/am hoping i can use it in some form or fashion over my 125. I am aware that a 48" span is not enough for a 72"... although since its an 8 bulb.. would I be able to overlap 2 sets of four by 2 feet?

Something on the lines of this... but 4 on each side...

just go every other bulb to each side and would work great. high light coral in the middle of the tank lower light corals on the sides....
do you have a 72" fixture or will you diy the light into a canopy? I ask because with t5 "individual" reflectors are a must for an aquarium.

I don't currently have a fixture... so I'll either be making one-- if i don't happen to locate one... or just adapting it to a canopy..
So.. if anyone has 8 or knows where i can get 8 reflectors i'd be interested...

when I had t5 I made reflectors from a roll of aluminum. you can get it at homedepot in the roofing section just cut and bend whatever size you want....

Good call.. The cheapest parabolic reflectors I can find are 20 each.. That's crazy

do you know anyone with a metal brake? if not I can ask a friend that does siding if he would bend the reflectors... only takes a min to do....

Thanks for the offer Rob... Luckily the light had a single corrugated reflector... So with a simple utility knife.. I was able to separate each reflector.....
The next question is.. Are those watwr-proof end sockets a must?...

just make sure to wipe the creep off the bulbs every once in a wile and they will be fine (as long as there is not any splashing...
