Found out I had to work tomorrow so made a last minute dash down to see Dennis and later Jason on the way back. I went to see Dennis to pick up a green Rock Flower Anemone and left with the nem, a plate coral, a chalice and a blue shroom. Also picked up a couple acros from Jason.
A night well spent.

How are the pieces looking? looking good. the purple pocillopora already has great PE. The purple and green acro hasn't opened up as much but looks good otherwise. I hope they adjust well to my tank conditions and I eventually can score an acro crab to be able to observe the relationship. The rock nem seems a little annoyed with my lights and crawled from the spot I placed it low in the tank to a dark crevasse a few inches away. Hopefully it'll adjust after awhile and move a bit more out in the open.

The way it's looking now I've got a truly mixed reef going. the left mound of the rockwork will have a monti, chalice, acro and pocillopora. The center mound has a purple frogspawn, bicolor frogspawn and purple tipped hammer, the right mound is the only empty thing and I've left that open for a maxi mini carpet or an ORA red goni.........or both Lower on the left is superman shrooms, a blue shroom, florida rics on the outside and the inside is utter chaos paly and golden yuma. Lower center is an acan, purple rhodactis, green rock flower nem, and in the future a red one as well, birdsnest, fruit loops zoa, and maybe VDM(currently on the sand bed. Lower right is sunny d's, sunburst paly, tubbs blueberry, green hairy rhodactis Sand bed has a green plate coral, a Hawaiian feather duster, and a pink and green tube anemone. almost time to track down some crabs and shrimp and maybe a couple of fish to finish it off

Wow. All looks great!! How did I miss your thread?? Corals all seem healthy and loving your system! Thanks! Everything has been going pretty good. The Acan has been unhappy for the last couple of days but looks to be opening up again a little today. Here's the Rock flower you got for me; and the chalice;

Sooo the maxi mini carpet I got from Easy came attached to a chunk of live rock. I noticed a couple of hitchhiker "frags" on it. Not sure if this one will make it as it's completely shaded; The second was one I thought might be a sponge, just a purple blob for the first couple of days but today it has polyps Looks alot like s short version of gsp?

Just be careful with those gsp because if you leave them in the middle of your rock work they will attempt to take over! Once they've laid down a mat on your liverock it's impossible to remove with extreme measures. Gsp, xenia, Kenya trees and yellow colonial polyps are all infamous for this! When I used to keep these corals I always isolated them from everything else.

I just didn't want to risk disturbing the maxi mini so soon after the rock it was on was already broken apart to get him at easy(which tore him a little) but I probably should chisel them both off sooner rather than later. I had a thought about the gsp. If I could mount it on a magnetic frag plug and stick it on the back wall and let it carpet the wall, that might look interesting?

I've always thought about doing a bare bottom Bonsia type aquascape with Gsp on the bottom instead of sand! Be like live grass... Some how add some neon green toadstool leathers hear and there for trees and you got a forest! Lol For the record I think I saw something like this year's ago and the idea took off in my head from there. So I don't believe this is my original idea completely. Although I don't completely remember and I've added my own touches to the memory

minor update. I have the xenia like stuff and the gsp broken off of the main rock with the maxi mini carpet on it. The carpet seems to have bounced back after a rough week. Still hasn't taken food. He's sticky and will grab the krill I've tried to feed him but eventually lets it go. The rock flower devours the stuff however. Maybe I'll stop by the seafood section at the market and see if they have something on sale. Maybe he'll like something a little fresher than the freeze dried krill?
My little rock covered in candle apple(i think) zoas also has bubble algae growing between the polyps. Getting it cleaned off without damaging the polyps should be interesting :/
Skimmer hasn't been pulling much the last few weeks so it might be time for a thorough cleaning.
