So I have a piece of purple branching hammer that has gotten rather large. I have yet to attempt to frag it and I'm looking for some advice on the best way to go about this.

Its the same as Duncan's. Just cut as far down as you can on the piece. Use bone cutters or something like that you want a clean cut. Then glue the bottom to something and your set.

use a dremmel tool or chip at it with the bone cutters. if you try to just cut it with bone cutters it will most likely splinter and shatter

I use bone cutters on my trumpet and while it spinters and shatters cutting it far enough below the polyp doesn't cause damage to the polyp, I don't have enough room on my duncans so I got a dremel for christmas... it depends on the space you have between the base and the polyp.

Hmm didn't know that. I actually use large tin snips. My cuts are always clean.
