My submersible pump is getting really loud. So I'm thinking I'll be replacing it soon. I have a 55 gallon tank with a 20 gallon sump. What is a good pump with out braking the bank?

Return pump? Have you tried cleaning it with vinegar?

I can try it but I cleaned it a month ago and it's a new set up. I got the pump used though. It's worth a try. I should get a spare though. It is my return pump it's a rio 14 HF hyper flow 840gph

It is my return pump it's a rio 14 HF hyper flow 840gph I've been using a Hydor 740 (740gph) for over a year with no problems. Good pump at a good price. www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=21413Or you could go DC and get a jebao dc6000? www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00INTDJJ4/ref=mlt_B00IIUOXZM_B00INTDJJ4At half power you'd be at 750gph and only 20 watts VS the Hydor at 55 watts for the same gph. Also leaves room for an upgrade. Bigger upfront cost but well worth it over time imo. Sent from my SM-N910R4 using proboards

My Hydor is dead silent. Always has been. But again it uses more then double the power of the dc6000 run at the same gph. I also have a jebao dc9000 and it's really quiet from 75% power and down. That's why I recommend going bigger and running it lower VS getting smaller (dc3000) and having to max it out.
