There are a few external DC pumps available.

Heaters are the killer for us in Maine.........300, 500, even 1000 watts of heaters really racks up the electricity. My biggest power draws are the 2-250w heaters, 90w return pump, and 90w lights (at peak). I only use 1 150 watt heater in about 90g of water volume. Sent from my SM-N910R4 using proboards

Depends on how your setup is. With my sump in the basement, where it gets into the high 50's/low 60's, I need bigger heaters to keep up. And we keep our living room at 68 during the winter, so that takes a little more too.

Yeah I keep my house around 68° as well. I don't have a basement sump though actually I don't have a basement With my tank I find that my return pump, 2 reactor pumps, 3 circulation pumps and lights keep my temp pretty stable and even the 150 watt heater doesn't turn on much. I also only keep my tanks temp at 76°~78°... I was keeping it at 74° last year and didn't use a heater all winter. My corals didn't seem as happy (growth) at that temp though so I brought it back up and now they're doing great. Sent from my SM-N910R4 using proboards

There are a few external DC pumps available. The dependability isn't there yet with DC pumps, too many failures so far. The Waveline DC6000 would work for me, and it would cut my wattage in half........they claim it's an internal/external pump.......$150 right now. They are a gen 2 pump, so maybe the issues have been fixed.

Like I said my heater barely ever turns on? I like having a smaller heater because when it sticks on (I'm sure eventually it will) it would take along time for a 150 watt heater to reek havoc on my tank.

Redundancy, I just love redundancy My heaters go through their own controller and then through my Aquatronica, then the two controllers are backed up to my chiller.

I want a temp controller but I won't get any other controllers besides that. I tried that and feel like it's just a big over rated timer. I know my temp, I don't need to know my Ph and lights run them selves. I used to love my apex, for 3 months

My boyfriend just finished a big powerline job. CMP had all new line and poles put in from central Maine all the way to Berwick. All of the power is to supply Mass. It's not even staying in our own state.
