I have acquired some awesome rock that is covered in moss from being outside for a few years. This piece is about 40lbs. The ruler in this pic is 18". So the size is about 18" across and about a foot plus thick. What can I do, to clean off the moss and stuff to get this ready for the tank?

Perhaps boil it for awhile to loosen up the moss.

Boiling may be an option, but this meteor is too large for my lobster pot haha. If I try and bake it, well, my wife says No! She slapped me with telepathy for thinking it.

I bribed them. I brought down 50lbs of superior whites and 50lbs of russets. They like tatters for sure. This was to sweeten the deal. I got about 70lbs. With this one and four other rocks. This was by far the worst. The others were covered by this one Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using proboards

Update. Since this won't fit in any pot I have, I decided to boil up some water and spot treat the moss. I used my handy dandy turkey baster to hit the moss. Once the roots let go, I used forceps to grab the clumps. I see now why I could not just pull it off. The roots had grown down a few inches and into the maze of holes.
The hitchhikers didn't like this at all. Lots of big spiders.
This morning, all the moss has shrunk and is brown.
