I was performing a water change yesterday on my 125. I mixed 15 gallons of water in my basement and I use a pump to pump it into a 5 gallon water fountain jug. Well, I filled my bucket and put the outlet tube back in the mixed salt water. I went upstairs and poured the water in and did a few things related to the change. I went back down stairs to find about 7 gallons of water on my basement floor, the tube fell out of the bucket and syphoned the water on my floor. I had to make 7 gallons of water and heat it before I could complete my change.. a fifteen minute change took 2 hours. I used about a dozen body sized towels to sop up the mess. ugh.

if you can think of it I have probably done it... worst I can think of was way back for salt I would just use a 1/2 cup measuring cup put 10 scoops in the bucket with 11g of water it worked out perfect until I got the measuring cup wet and grabbed a 1c measuring cup and about doubled the salt for the waterchange! it took 3 hrs for about $2k worth of sps to totally melt along with a couple hundred in fish dieing

I started filling a bucket for top off and got involved watching a movie or doing something else and come back to a kitchen filled with water. Ask the wife she can tell you how many times I have done this.

One of my stupid moves was actually quite recent lol. A couple months back, I just finished siphoning the coarse sand in my tank during a water change. I shut the valve on my siphon hose, took the other end and connected it back to my mag 12 pump I use in my basement to pump mixed water back to my tank. Without even thinking I turned the pump on, went upstairs to open the valve and guess what happened. The entire lenght of the 40ft hose was still filled with nasty detritus laden water. Yup, straight back into the tank it went! Oops!

I think I've overflowed my Ro container more times then I filled it normally. To be honest though I think the dumbest thing I've done to my tank is placement! When I set the tank up I had little to no help. Only advice I was getting was from pet Co and what I was reading online. So I put the tank in a corner against 2 walls and at the end of my couch. Unfortunately the couch is the only one I can move. Walls make maintenance on the back of the tank a pita! If I could do it all over again I'd put it right in the middle of my living room like an island! Lol jk Pulling it away from the wall about 16" would be plenty. Sent from my SM-N910R4 using proboards
