I have a sea clone skimmer that was given to me. What's your thoughts. Can it? It's a new 55 gallon set up

I looked at that one. Has great reviews too. I just set the tank up 3 weeks ago. I have 2 clowns and a hermit crab. So can I wait a few weeks to a month to buy a good skimmer?

If it's a brand new setup, you'll be fine to go a few weeks without a skimmer on there while the tank is cycling.
I have a 6 month old SCA-301 skimmer with an extra pump that I may be selling soon. It's rated for 65-80 gal systems, and works well.

What about the coralife skimmer? I want a good one with out spending over 200$ if I can For around 200$ I'd try and get a bubble magnus curve 5. Same concept as the sca skimmers but with a more reliable pump. If you want to spend under a hundred get a sca-301(under rated for your tank imo) but if you have the budget for 200$ then get something a little more quality. I love the sca skimmers but ime plan on buying a new pump within a year. Sca skimmers get great reviews because they're good skimmers for little money. But with that comes a little skimping on quality (pump). Also try to get something way overrated for your tank. Get the next size up (or bigger) for the recommendation of the manufacturer. Sent from my SM-N910R4 using proboards

Coralife skimmers are good if you pick one up used with the otto pump. the new pumps are pushing half the water and air rating. Also the Coralife skimmer body is hard to clean as you have to got through the neck to clean it, the body does not come apart. I think I had seen one F/S on here for 100.00

My plan is to buy a quality skimmer on Black Friday. My thought is if I spend 200$ on that day I'll get a great skimmer for that price. Just started the tank 3 weeks ago. Only have 2 clowns. Getting snail package this week. I should be fine till then right?

I went almost 3 years with no skimmer..............so yes, you'll be fine. Just do your regular water changes after the cycle is done, and you'll be fine with that small bio load on the system.
