I took the rocks out today, 1 big one and 1 small one that was on top of it. I put them in my QT tank which happens to be empty. I actually like the tank with the rocks gone, more open area on the sand bed for more frags and stuff.
I've read about boiling the rock and that will kill the palys and remove them from the rock, but you have to be very careful not to inhale the steam. Has anyone done this?
I'd like to clean the rock off and put it back in the tank, or if someone would want to buy the rocks from me I would do that too and find a new rock.

Dont boil the rock whatever you do many reports of play toxin poisoning as it gets released not to mention all the other junk in the rock you don't even need to be close to the stove the gasses will go throughout your house and it can be fatal. Avoid boiling at all costs.

I'd never do it inside if I do it, boil the water on the stove and then pour it into the bucket with the rock in it outside away from the house.......a little common sense goes a long way.

Now that you have the rock, out if you just want to kill them take a torch to the rock. I'd personally frag them up. If you don't want to do a bunch, then just fag a couple large colonies. I'd most likely trade you something for a large colony. I know they won't go crazy in my system. All my zoas are slow growers because I keep my system ultra low nutrients. Great for sps not so much for zoas. They grow just not crazy fast but I'd rather get fast growth out of my sps:)

If someone is interested in them, for sure I'd do a trade rather then just kill them. They look great in my tank, I just didn't want them taking over everything in there which is what they were slowly doing.
I could probably cut the rock down a bit(diamond circular saw blade), and leave about 100 heads on the rock and trade it away......maybe a scoly(hint, hint)?

I already have a nice mini colony of lunar Eclipse zoas so I wouldn't be interested in trading for my Scoly. I am interested in selling it though;D Sent from my SM-N900R4 using proboards

I'm open to all trade offers, LPS would be preferred.......acans, torch, scoly, not a big SPS fan.

Sounds good, I think a few pieces of branch between my back glass and my rock stack would be good for the fish to hide in.

No problem at all.
I broke the rock up a bit, and got the palys on 4-5 pieces now. Was able to get most of the rock back into my tank, and keep the palys in my qt tank for now.
I can take some pics of what I have once the water in my qt clears up from the rock dust. There is one piece that still has about 100 heads on it, the others are smaller.
