I dealt with the copper contamination from kent carbon first hand at aquacorals when I worked there. I was actually the one who showed the owner the recall straight from kent. I also dealt with high copper contaminating in the restraunt tank I take care of, corals turned white almost over night. I was using poly filters to remove copper and for a few weeks they stayed solid blue. Lost quite a few corals from that contaminated carbon. The recall has been t a few years now though.

Nebraska Aquatic Supply is reporting that Kent Carbon not specified in the product codes are also showing heavy metal concentrations. I would discontinue all use of Ken Marine Reef Carbon for right now even if your batch is not listed in the recall.
These were all with exp dates in 2014 and 2015 mine is 2016 so I'm not chancing it. There carbon is mined coal and who knows how long ago they mined the stuff in these older packages? I got mine at pet co a long time ago. Better safe then sorry it's not that good of carbon imo anyways.

I'd like to run a poly filter just to see what colors it turns, but scared at the same time! Lol
