Contamination of some sort, too much or too little light, Just some Ideas. I've had mine do this before and I think it was light related and in my case I'm pretty sure it was from not enough light.

Moved them up higher, though they've been there for 3 months without issue. Area's of tissue are covered under what might be superglue from the frag...or could be swolen and discolored, not sure they aren't getting any better though all params are fine and all other corals including zoas are fine...do I dip if things don't improve in 3 days? Got some pics to show what I'm talking about.

Hard to say from the pick but they look fine to me. Its not uncommon to loose a polyp here and there as well. I keep mine at all levels of my tank. The super glue shouldn't have any effect on them either.

They were growing and doing well up till when? What if anything has changed is what you need to figure out. Tough to say for sure what is going on.

Just been doing some reading and its possible that Chemical Allelopathy could be causing your zoanthids to swell up in the center or start to shrink. If your not already, you might try using a quality activated carbon in your tank water to try and remove any excess chemicals that may be being released buy your previously established corals.

I took out the colony and dipped them, scraped the bad ones off, when I moved them there were two attached to another rock that appeared to be fine, but now one of those is displaying the umbrella symptom, and the dipped frag has not reopened...so things aren't looking the best but I know where I can get more of em if they don't take soon.

That's a real bummer man. Are you using any carbon or poly filters? My parent colony of those orange zoanthids did the umbrella and shrinking thing in my tank when they didn't have enough light. If your using LED I would assume it can't be from lack of light.

They are in my 30 under PC lighting. They have been in the same spot and quicky grew from 5 polyps to 17 and all of a sudden this started. I have since moved the colony to the upper 30% but they have not opened. We'll wait and see.

mine for whatever reason do the best on my overflows right under my 250 watt halides. Hopefully they will come back. What are your nitrates and phosphates? Maybe the water could be too clean. Just an idea. I've had zoos shrink from lack of nutrients as well.

The undipped colony is subcoming to the umbrella syndrome, the dipped colony is open and even growing again but has lost all of it's orange coloration...wonder if it will come back.

It should, Mine have turned completely brown a few times and they always color back up with in a week or so in my tank.
