I really don't like the design of this. While the concept is good, I really don't like the looks of it. It can be accomplished with traditional wavemakers or powerheads, for a lot less money.

That's why I'm hoping they come out with a cheaper one! Lol I like it because it moves serious water and in my tank I'd only need one and it'd still be to strong. I read on a 125g it's hard to dial it above 30%. It does come with a controller as well though.

its better than their first design! their first one had the bottom open so fish were getting sucked in and chopped. not to mention it was light blue.. even with the bottom now covered I think it would still be a fishes nightmare...

This is the first edition I saw and the clear was most certainly a dumb idea. I can just see the coraline algae growing all over it now! New design is still blue inside you just can't see it that well because of the black case. I think the clear was more for demo purposes anyways and I'm not sure they were ever going to release it that way. Woops I forgot to add the link... blog.aquanerd.com/2014/05/maxspect-riptide-gyre-generator.html

I think this is brilliant. As far as I can tell it is not possible to produce laminar flows with a prop pump (at least the current batch of prop pumps can't). And since both turbulent and laminar flows exist on the reef, a combination of both pump types would be great.

No I haven't seen that yet but I do like it. Another reason I love jebao they copy great expensive products and sell them cheaper. Normally with jebao they don't cheap out to much on quality just make things cheap enough for the average reefer.

Normally with jebao they don't cheap out to much on quality just make things cheap enough for the average reefer. They don't cheap out too much? how much is too much? How do you think they make the products so cheap? Besides cheap labor? We are seeing the beginning of the Jebao pump failures in droves. The time frame is between 45 days and 1 year. Don't get me wrong I love the Jebaos but understand what you are buying.

I do I own multiple jebao products. That's what I'm basing it off my personal experience. Never had a bad experience with a jebao product or heard of one. Obviously they're not perfect. Is there any product you do like? Seems like you try to bash everything that comes out my mouth?

Can't we all just get along? Look, the right way to make a point is to either cite some real empirical evidence - or - admit to the anecodotal basis of your evidence. For example: In my experience with 4 EcoTech VorTech pumps I have not had a single failure to date. Two of the pumps, MP10s, are ~3 years old, one MP40 is ~2 years old, and the last MP10 is almost brand new. I would expect any continuously running mechanical device in saltwater, subject to encrustation by living critters to fail eventually though so I'm expecting to have to start replacing parts any day now.To the specifics of this, I'm conflicted. It bothers me when a person or company or whatever simply rips off someone else's work. At the same time that can push the state of the art forward faster than otherwise. I personally find it compelling to buy a well supported, well designed product from the people who invented it. Even better if it is a US company. That is all.

I have a dead WP10 right now, just found it this weekend. Been in service for about 3 months, but my other one is running fine. I'm not going to bash the product, but it's well known that they are prone to problems due to lack of quality control, cheap parts, and cheap labor. But going into it you know what you getting into, when it fails they are cheap enough to replace.

Jason absolutely not bashing you, realize that this is a forum, You post things you read and also experiences you have. You commented about 2 items you have from Jebao that have worked well for you, that is great. The great things about a forum is that many people can give their insights about what is posted, this is what makes it a forum. Many nubies come on this forum and seek information about products and believe the first thing they read and don't do any research.I like to make sure when I post things about products I give both sides hence the amount of going back and forth. I also spend much time on the net as you do reading great articles that company's write about their products. I go two steps further, I look for articles on forums where people are having issues with these items, I also visit many retailers and distributors in N.E. asking and talking about issues products have. A few people on this group can attest to the amount of driving I do between aquaria and my other passion. Now maineultra had one fail after three months, Here is a link to a few more failures, There are also many failures with the controller itself too. www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2435268&highlight=jebao+pump+failureNow if you would like I can get you twenty plus forum posts on issues with these pumps. Better yet why don't you can jump in on one of the store tours and you can talk to two retailers I visit who sells them. Again not reading and mis quoting, I said I love the Jebao wave makers !! My thoughts right now being on the fence are, if I have to replace the Jebao pumps possibly every year or maybe less, the ecotech pumps may be a better bang for the buck.
