Just went through a major house move and in the process the center brace on my 65 reef tank broke off clean on both ends. First off, does anyone now how necessary this is. Any good or bad results. Have about 40 gallons in and it seems fine, but really not sure if I trust it. Please help.

Same thing happend on my 46bf, I cut a piece of acrylic and bolted it inplace with the material that was left, if you do that you will want to so it empty. I noticed that with the broken center brace the glass bowed out about an 1/8 inch or more. You could also build a brace with wood or metal if you can weld, that will go across the top and down the front and back.

In the meantime, keep the tank dry so not to load your seams without support.

All fish and corals are in a spare tank at the time so draining water is not a prob. Would the sand cause any issues?
