Keeping with my Caribbean reef obsession, I've been thinking of trying a harem or reef basslets as schooling fish as opposed to damsels, chromis or cardinals. Which does everyone think would be cooler to see? Chalk basslet Royal gramma basslet

Not a fan of the yellow tail reef basslet. Plus I already have dispar anthias which are similar/more colorful.

I was asking witch ones your thinking of?? These were they only ones on liveaquaria with the "reef" tag so that's why I thought it was these?

Ah, yea I misunderstood. I added some pics of the two reef basslets I'm looking at creating a harem of.

The royals don't generally do well in a group, but the chalk do

The royals don't generally do well in a group, but the chalk do Of course they don't because they're better looking fish. Imo

From all the research I've done, They both have similar schooling habits. Grammas tend to form more of a hierarchy like dwarf angels or anthias though. Very few people actually keep enough to create a true harem though.

Interesting...in the wild I've never seen grammas in any groups other than 1s or 2s. I'll have to keep a better eye out next time I dive. Do this...a harem of chalk bass and a pair of grammas (or blackcaps if you want to go more rare). You should have room.
