So I'm in a debate as to do a basement sump or not. What it comes down to is my basement gets down around 50 degrees in the winter, would I be able to keep my system up to temp during the cold months? The room my display will be in will be 64-66. It's a 75 gallon display with a 40 long sump probably holding 30 gallons of water. I'm planning on using two ehiem 150 watt heaters. Anybody with cool basements have any experience with this, I'd like to here your opinion.

i would use 2x 250w heaters, wrap the sump with 2" foam board and all should be good

I just did a basement sump a few months ago, and I went from 2 - 100w heaters to 2 - 250w heaters. My sump is in my utility room, and it gets in the mid-50's in the winter. My living room is about 68 in the winter.......so those 2 bigger heaters were needed to keep the water temp stable.
Other then that, I love having the sump in the basement..........all the noise and smells are down there. And there is all kinds of room around it to work and mount stuff.
