I've had freshwater fish since the age of 5, everything from native Maine fish to giant amazon exotics. Once I met my wife that all changed. She got me started in This hobby. Here's all of my different reef tanks through the years in order up till now.
Starting from my very first saltwater tank back in 2006. 29 gallon eclipse tank with standard fluorescent lighting that I bought as a saltwater setup from petco.
My second tank. A established 75 gallon tank with sump and power compact fluorescent lighting that I bought from my aunt.
This is the same tank grown in before I upgraded to a larger tank.
This was my third reef tank and largest so far. A 6ft 150 gallon tank with Hamilton triple 250w halides.
Same 150 gallon reef, fully grown in with corals
After I rearranged a bit
I downgraded from the 150 gallon due to financial issues to my fourth tank. A peninsula style 40 breeder tank with a custom two sided stand with a bookshelf built into the end.

After finances got better I was able to upgrade back to a 75 gallon, my second 75 gallon reef. I build the hood for my metal halides that I gutted out of my Hamilton setup and build the ballast box that you see off the right side of the stand.
The same 75 gallon about 50% grown in with coral.
Same 75 gallon fully grown in and packed with corals. This was my favorite reef tank that I've ever had and had since been the benchmark for me to get back to.
Then I decided to upgrade to a 4ft 120 gallon reef because my wife was dead set against us having another 6ft tank, I should have known better and just gone with my gut!
120 with halide pendents and peninsula stand
Same 120 with a home made halide light and a new stand
Then when things were really going well two years ago now I decided to try my first frag tank that was a huge success until winter came along and I couldn't keep the water warm enough in my basement so I ended up shutting it down,
My current tank that I downgraded to from my 120 so that I could have the tank In my living room.
At it's peak in late 2013 before the ice storm.
Just after the 2013 ice storm. Lots of die off.
My current 75 has rebounded quite a bit. Pic is from about 2 months ago, just before I started having serious algae issues.
I hope everyone enjoyed this little trip back in time for me. It's actually taken a lot of work to track down all these photos of past tanks but I'm glad I finally did. I've come along way in the last 8 years and don't plan on giving up anytime soon. More pics to come.
Happy reefing!
