Hey look it's new, it's shiny, instead of snake oil in a bottle it is snake oil in a pouch. Lol Until it is out in the market place and used for at least a six month to a year period with positive results I'll pass. I have seen way to many products with the company claiming their products are the greatest thing only to have spent a bunch of money on the latest and greatest to have them become trash or fertilizer.

Well it's still bio pellets so I really don't see what it could harm to try it if your already running bio pellets? Also it says in the article they have been doing trials on it for 4 years " After 4 years of development and research we are very pleased to be able to present the Reef Interests All-In-One Biopellets (Patent Pending), which can be used to more efficiently remove both Nitrogen (5x) as well as Phosphates (10x-20x) without the need of using separate phosphate removing substrates." They talked about one of the test to " Results after 10 months: The bioload on a 700 liter aquarium (185 gallons) contains approximately 50 fish and after 10 months of testing both nitrates and phosphates were undetectable with standard nitrate and phosphate aquarium test kits with the use of 2 liters of media." I like it because it's a product made by the same company that came out with bio pellets and I really don't think they'd just release it and damage there reputation for absolutely no reason? Like I said I'm already running bio pellets so I see no harm in spending a few extra dollars and trying this to see if it works. I'd much rather change this every 6-9 months versus changing gfo every 4 weeks. like everything else in this hobby to each there own. I know my bio pellets are working pretty good allot better then having a refugium imho.

They own the company and want to make money of course it was tested for ten years and the results on our controlled test were outstanding. I hope it works and is the greatest thing since bagged salt but until it is out to the public and tried I view it as snake oil in a pouch. IMO

The reason is to make money, I don't think you realize the amount of bad products that good companies put out and end up being dropped because the did not work. The original Seachem Sea gel comes to mind as well as a lot of the original Marc Weiss products.

I rarely like products with people's names on them because for the most part they're trying to sell the name instead of the product. Either way like I said it'll function as bio pellets at the very least so in no could it be snake oil in a bottle imo. If it's at lazy serving the same purpose as the bio pellets I'm already running and could possibly take care of phosphates at the same time. I see no harm in it at all. If it doesn't work I loose like $10

IMO I believe we've discussed this before and I agree but this is true with all products that come out in life and not just in the aquarium hobby. I got the Samsung galaxy s4 because the company and us cellular said it was a thousand times better! I regret not sticking with my galaxy s3 it was a better phone imo. Like I said this happens every day and some people stay away and others try things out. I weight the possible reward versus the possible regret and make a choice. In this case I see very little regret coming from it, Even if it sucks.

Most companies rely just on the theory you stated " it must be, how could it not? " and " they did research " The reason I am negative on new items that come out and claim to be the latest greatest is because I have been there done that. I had to go out and be the first to buy the crap the companies claim to be the latest greatest. It amazed me when I moved to Maine the junk I threw out because it was the latest greatest. Now I sit back and wait until the produces are proven before wasting money on junk.

I guess we are just lucky to have people like Jason to test the cheaper ones and tell us how they work for him

I guess we are just lucky to have people like Jason to test the cheaper ones and tell us how they work for him It's not cheaper, it's more expensive then regular bio pellets. BUT as I stated before it is STILL bio pellets with the added promise of reducing phosphates. Witch regular bio pellets only take out very little phosphates. So if this product is proven to be a good quality and reliable product then it's going to be a frequently used product but lots of reef hobbyist. I've had very little products I've bought that haven't proved to be good/great products. Couple of pieces of equipment maybe but they even are still good products. But you get what you pay for no matter what it is. Lastly I just got my Hanna checker the other day and my phosphates are actually undetectable so I'm not sure I'll even need to use this product. At least not at the moment. Plus I still have plenty of gfo left before even considering it.
