Giant 3.5 Foot Bristle Worm Was Eating My Corals: That's not a bristle worm, that's a bobbit worm aka Eunice worm. There's also medusa worms and fire worms. A regular common bristle worm is reef safe and will not actively seek out and kill your livestock. I have very large bristles, 8+" and they don't bother anything. When I feed my tank they come out of hiding grab a piece of food and disappear back into hiding. I've watched them crawl over my coral searching out food and never bother anything. I don't believe bristles have the same mouth structure as the bigger more aggressive worms.

No they don't have the same mouth structure.....but all I'm saying is if you look at pictures of baby's or little bobbit and fire worms they are all very hard to tell apart. And the mouth is to small to distinguish between the two. I personally think regular bristle worms are fine but they can easily be confused when small. I don't keep bristle worms because like I said before I have allergies to Bee's and allot of other things and I'm not talking the chance of going into shock our having a serious allergic reaction. I don't like having to use this....... Sent from my SCH-R970 using proboards Attachments:

I wouldn't like to have to use that either. So would you be allergic to stings from coral?

So far not to bad..... I've been badly stung by a carpet anemone, it literally covered my entire hand and looked like I had a thousand little white bleach spots everywhere. As far as corals I've never really felt much of a sting from any before. I can't remember where I read it but I read that fire/bristle worms stings are simular toxins as bee's and that's why they say to be careful. Doesn't mean I am, I just don't want to risk it personally.

Ahh ok. I've been stung by bristles in the tips of my fingers. It gets swollen and red, like an angry painful pimple. Then goes away. Usually makes my fingers soon peel to.
