So I fed my anemone today and this worm thing came crawling out of a rock. It's pink and purple ish with legs like a centipede.

Are they bad? This is the first time I've seen one, he wasn't picking at anything, other than extra fish food. Also, I have a 10 Gallon nano, so any way to do it without big changes is appreciated.

you will find mixed reviews on if they are "good" or "bad" it depends on the kind of bristle worm, some kinds eat coral but most are fine. also if you touch it it will hurt for a couple days.

I leave them. I have huge ones and they never bother anything. I have 5 gln tanks. I consider them as part of my clean up crew.

They never stay long in my tank. The neon dottyback will also eat them. I think all dottybacks will but I'm not positive? There's also simple traps you can make to catch them if you don't want them. Google it

I think they are a good part of your clean up crew. The stories ive heard bout them taking on and killing a fish are untrue. they would have to be a very very sick fish. they are scavengers and will be found on dead fish in the morning. but not kill it. Penny has tons of them and dont bother her corals. i have seen a few in my tank also and never had problem with fish or coral. but if somthing died id expect to see it come around

If you do some research on them there's tons of good ones(unless your allergic) but there's also a few bad ones that DO eat coral and fish these aren't just scavengers they are predators. They're pretty rare in the hobby but you don't want one. I saw one that was something crazy like 10' long! Same family as Bristle worm. That's not gonna be fed by scraps.lol I also have a allergies to Bee's and read that if your allergic to Bee's chances are higher you'd be allergic to bristle worm stings.they hurt either way.
Like everything else in this hobby to each their own, but precede with caution it's not all peaches and cream. Do your own research. Chucksaddiction.com

Giant 3.5 Foot Bristle Worm Was Eating My Corals:
Eating brain corals...I really don't care to argue with you on what they'll eat and won't eat.If you think one of these worms can live off a few scraps of food your crazy. Some of these people are feeding the worms so they aren't hungry. Either way who the heck wants a 3'worm in they're tank that can sting the $h¡t out of you? Or eat coral. Scavengers are normally very opportunistic and if there's a piece of the coral dying off they'll eat it and all of a sudden there's a little more dying flesh and a little more, till there's nothing left. Or a sick sleeping fish with a bad case of ick or something? Very weak and sleeping and that things hungry? I'm not saying 100% they will like you are speedy, but I'm just saying you CAN'T just say 100% they won't eat these things because you don't know.
I don't think anyone should listen to 1 person anyways, Me included. You should always do your own research and come to your own conclusion on any subject. People get convinced of things and think that means they're fact when they aren't, Again me included. Wasn't very long ago I thought the same thing and actually wanted them I'm my tank and was actually trying to get them. Haha changed my mind quick after doing my own research instead of listening to others.
