Just wondering who is using LEDs on their tanks, what kinds, and PAR readings if they have them. Also wondering if there is a PAR meter out there that I could use to see what I'm getting.
I will start. I got a diy kit from rapidled.com they have great customer service for all your possible needs. Price seemed very reasonable. I am running 36 bulbs 1/2 with 80 degree optics, and 3 moonlights. I have a dimmable controller that has a sunrise/sunset control on it. The shimmer effect is fantastic!!! I built the enclosure out of clear finish mahogony. Materials cost about 400 all together. My time was priceless, because of the amount of fun I had building it. Well worth the time and money!!!

I have $220 invested so far for the 2 lights, the 3 will cost me around $270-$280
I bought a 48"x 11 1/2" heatsink from an air conditioning unit and cut it into 3-16" pieces $90, (price went to $140 the day after I bought it) led= 40- royal blue, 10- blue, 30- 14k $86, 75v drivers cost $7 each, quick silver thermal adhesive $6, wire $8
I still have to order the led to finish my last light, another $43 for the led and $14 for drivers

I am! I went the lazy man's route and ordered mine from Reef Breeders for $234. I don't have a par meter so I can't give you those figures. But I have been using them for 3 months and I have seen my electric bill go down and growth increase, so I guess you can say that I'm very happy I made the switch

TruLumen Pro here 4 - 12" Marine Fusion 2 - 12" Sunlight
They work and look great on my 35 hex, corals are growing like crazy and the colors are great.
Total of about $250 invested, found a seller on Ebay that took care of me at very discounted prices and free shipping.
