Has anyone ever tried the product called "Algone"? it's supposed to remove nitrates and what not. I've heard excellent reviews, but didn't know if anyone on here has heard of it or tried it?

a good way to think about salt water tanks is;
you never realy get rid of anything unless you export it meaning, remove it from the tank. one way you export nitrates is by water changes. actualy removing some and pouring it down the drain. you export phosphates with skimmers and again pouring it down the drain. you export things by conversion like using macro algea and then again cuting out some and removing from tank, like taking some of your cheato out and throwing it in garbage. but when you are using a chemical you are not removing anything you are just turning it into something else

be careful with products that "remove" nitrates most are bacteria that just spike the nitrates in your tank.
the only thing I have found to "remove" nitrate is amquel plus. it dosnt actually remove the nitrate but it binds the nitrate then it can be removed by your mechanical filters
