well grabbed a few powerheads from an old box and went to use them 2 out of 3 looked like this and the other one has an impeller that is pitted so bad I dont dare to use it.(all were rinsed is fresh water before they were put away) I googled it and seems allot of ppl are having the same issues with these powerheads. wondering if anyone else seen this?  |

from what I have read it was the nano's that had this problem but this is an evo 1050.
because of the price of rare earth magnets all the companies are switching to cheaper magnets that rust they just coat them with a thin rubber to seal them it works till it gets scratched..... no more hydor's for me

Sedra pumps have the same issues water gets under the coating for the magnet and the magnet swells causing the pump to stop. Resun pumps on Vertex skimmers had a metal plate inside the case that was exposed directly to saltwater and rusted causing all sorts of problems. I still question the metal clip that holds the impeller to the shaft on some of these Chinese made Dc adjustable pumps.

They have new impellers and they'll send you the new replacements for free I posted about it a few days ago. My 2 pumps aren't that bad but they aren't functional either. I'll post an update on how the pumps work with the new impeller as soon as I get them in. Attachments:

when i sent them a pic they want me to ship the pump back so i dont damage it with how bad the magnet has rusted in it.

So Idk about anyone else but I got these in the mail today and they look exactly like the same impeller that's already in mine? There's no white pieces on the ends.forest thing I noticed. The one in the picture that says "new impeller" looks like an impeller magnet you see inside of return pumps and nicer power heads. I'm definitely going to be e-mailing them to ask Wtf is up!
