Just built and installed a PVC overflow. So far its working perfectly with little noise. I made mine out of 3/4" PVC. So if anyone is thinking of making one ill awnswer any questions.

Lost power for a couple minutes. The overflow had no problem starting itself up again.

a little black plastic paint and you wont even notice it
