Battery operated air pump (keep the air stone at the top of the tank) and throw a blanket over the top to keep the heat in. Foster and Smith sells them for 3.95.

Well I hope no one had any issues. I made it through with no problems. I feel a lot safer with my setup now.

Lost power for 17 hours, didn't have any kind of backup because we never lose power for that long. We usually get it right back up. Not very happy at all

I lost my power for around 12 hours. I just kept dunking a large bowl in my tank and pouring the water back in repeatedly for about a minute every few hours to keep the water aerated. I turned up the heat in my house and made sure my tank was warm before we lost power. My tank maybe got down to around 70 degrees at the lowest. Sorry to hear you had losses. I've been there before.

sorry for the loses
this will be the 3rd year I have had a generator and I have only run it for 12 hrs total. just the peace of mind knowing I wont lose $1000's worth of livestock is worth having it.
this storm my lights didnt even flicker. cmp trimmed the lines last year

just the peace of mind knowing I wont lose $1000's worth of livestock is worth having it. exactly why i got an apex controller. while it won't prevent every single disaster, it sure can help give your tank a voice if something isn't right. i want to be able to enjoy my tank and not worry that i'm going to kill my livestock. generator is on the list too, haven't yet bitten that bullet though... $$$!!!

Lost power for about an hour last night. Had battery pumps going and was about to get the generator out.

Well, I have been sitting on the fence about getting a Ecotech MP40. So I finally bit the bullet and bought one and the battery backup for it. So I will not be having these issues again. I guess sometimes it takes a loss to get off you butt and do something.
