If you didn't quarantine your new fish, you have no idea what they were carrying on them when you introduced them to your tank.
Where did you buy the new fish?
More then likely, they had ich on them, carried it into your tank, all your fish now have it and are going to die unless you can catch them and quarantine them. Now you are going to have to go 3-4 weeks fish free in your tank to kill off the ich.

Sorry to hear but the sad truth is there really isn't a ton you can do. Water change and some Ich treatment is about it. Chem Marin's Stop Parasite gets pretty good reviews.

Is there anything else going on with the tank? Normally that many fish don't die from just ick. From what I've known most fish will only die from ick if they're already sick or have some other problem?

One fish gets compromised...acts as host to large numbers of parasites which overwhelm other fishs' immune systems. Fish with parasites have open wounds from parasites and from scratching...leading to open sores and fungal infections.
Is it "ich" (Cryptocaryon irritants) or is it Oodinium? Different parasite, different treatment.
Is this a fish only tank or do you have inverts?

I can't stand ich! When I picked this hobby back up a few years ago I made a commitment to try my best at a disease free tank! This included quarantine anything "wet" for at least 9 weeks. I do the tank transfer method on ALL fish. So far I have had ZERO issues and my DT is disease free! I'm very happy about that. Sorry to here about your issues, I've been there and it sucks!

Not sure what it is, but it sounds exactly like what I went through last summer...I went fish free for 6 weeks, and the fish I then added were in QT with copper treatment for 2 weeks. Now I just QT in my frag tank, no meds.

No way you could post a picture? There's a lot of different things that could look like cotton? If it's a parasite you can get herbtana. Look it up idk if you have time now?
