Bulk is cheaper, but not ideal for me since it will get hard before I go thru it, so I buy smaller. Still cheaper than what I would pay anywhere else for same size. He sells buckets of both. Think 50 gln bags of io were $10

Amazon had a bucket of IO for $35.09 with free shipping......not sure what it is now.

What if you were just starting and wasn't dosing your mixed reef with low cal and alk needs? What salt would you choose to best care for your tank? I do dose and use a good amount of brs 2 part a day. But I started my tank allot different then it is now. It used to be mostly softies.I've only recently changed the tank over to mainly Lps, sps and some zoa's & palys with a small Shroom garden. My tanks cal and alk shoot up fast. Buy I haven't even gone through the buckets of salt I have had for awhile. (Reef crystals) Now I've just opened my last bucket are you saying I should just switch to Io? I'm not saying anything...  But seriously, it's up to you. I gave my opinion and rationale for why I use IO on this thread and on another thread. I also mentioned the conditions under which I think Reef Crystals makes the most sense. You're not going to hurt anything continuing to use Reef Crystals but I just don't think you'll necessarily help anything either. At that point it's a matter of money. |
