I haven't bought any livestock there yet but I've been impressed with the quantity and variety of fish every time I've been there. My only complaints are that most of the saltwater tanks have had lots of cyano or algae when I've been there and there are a ton of sweet show sized fish that are not for sale. Other than that it's a pretty cool store that usually keeps a sweet variety of livestock.

The show fish are a teaser I will agree. The fish are top notch and he always has a great selection. As for coral I have only bought a few off him. Nothing a quick dip can't prevent every time and close inspection like you should do with each coral.

I stay away from any place that knowingly sells you anything with s.t.d's (pg-crappy tank disease)

Pet Pro's fish are generally pretty good and most of my fish are from there. They have ridiculously low (to me) prices on some items like angels and some wrasses.
Note that, historically, Pet Pro keeps their fish-only retail tanks hyposalinic. For those that don't know, this means they keep the fish in water that is below natural salinity levels. This is a good thing...it eliminates most parasites and makes life easier for the fish as they have to work less to maintain osmotic balance (exporting salts that they take on through drinking and osmosis).
All retail/wholesale shops should do this!
However, this means that when you bring the fish home, they have to be acclimated SLOWLY to bring them up to normal salinity levels. I recommend a drip and taking 45-60 minutes to equalize. It's best to test the bag (Pet Pro) water when you get home to see how far off it is from your water and then make adjustments to acclimation accordingly.
Note that Maine Pets in Ellsworth is owned by the same people and I believe they run their fish-only tanks hyposalinic as well.

I like petpro bangor he has good prices and lifetime guarantee for heaters if it breaks bring it in and swap for new. 300watt for bout 30 bucks. never had a problem with his fish. If he dosent have it he will order it for you. So even if he wont sell you his dt fish he will order one. Alex also wont just sell u something. he will ask you questions and make sure u are prepared and equipped to take care of the livestock. IE right sized tank for the sweetlips lol. not just sell u somthing that outgrow your tank in no time or a coral u dont have right lighting for things like that. Ive also seen him take in trades or take back a fish that bullys tankmates
