Scoobnoob and I just recently bought these zoanthids listed as pretty penny's. I've been told that they can loose their orange halo around the center. To me they look like they could either be pretty penny zoanthids or mean green zoanthids. What's everyone's opinion on them? Here are the zoanthids in question. I'm pretty sure now that they are just faded pretty penny's but want to get some other opinions as well. Heres a borrowed pic of Greg's pretty penny's for comparison Here is a borrowed pic from melve's reef of mean green zoanthids for comparison as well. Almost forgot about the kryptonite zoanthids, pic borrowed from coralpedia Tell me what you guys think?

The color surrounding the oral disc on the pennies looks rounder than the mean greens as in more of a perfect circle ours have more of a circular coloration....this coming from the partially colorblind guy

I personally think they're mean greens. I'm pretty sure that's what I was told about mine. You can still see the ring of orange on Gregs, you can't see even a tiny bit on yours Ryan? I have had some zoanthids for awhile and they look a lot like these? This is a very old picture but they still look the same. Found another pic. Take recent picture later I'd needed. Attachments:

Where were the zoanthids from? State? I didn't know this but I guess people in other states like to "bootleg" zoa's. They take a zoanthid that looks similar and a picture on their web site of the real higher end zoanthid and sell it to us the "hobbyist" and then send out the similar zoa's and not the real one.
An example of this is in Michigan I read probably 10 different people saying they got sold rasta's and received pretty pennies?

So tough to say for sure, out of everything I've looked at they have more in common with the pretty penny's like what Greg has. The oral disks on the mean greens are too irregular I think. Worst case scenario they end up being kryptonite zoas. Hopefully they are just faded and will color up though.

They lack the orange of pretty pennies which is why I'm going with the mean green, or even the others. Pretty pennies are a morph from Rastas, maybe the mean greens are a morph from pretty penny?

They came from a place in Ohio the seller imported them from the indo pacific. He had many larger colonies these appeared as the most desirable to me.
